Anberlin - Blueprints for the Black Market

Original Release Date: May 6, 2003

Sounds like: Elliot-False Cathedrals meets a Hyper kid who just inhaled a whole box of pixisticks

Best song on CD: We Dreamt in Heist

Why?: Very catchy and I like the inclusion of the keyboards in the intro

Worst song on CD: Autobahn

Why?: Seems corny and forced. Not a terrible song but out of the 11 it is the worst.

This is an excellent CD. Prior to hearing this I have never heard anything of Anberlin before. There is a great flow from track 1-11 but this doesn't become repetition. There is much variation between the drums, guitars, keyboards etc. The first track Ready Fuels grabs you and you really aren't let go until the end of the CD. This is one of the few discs that I don't find myself going okay I am going to skip this track. Like I said before Autobahn is the worst track but you really don't notice it is there because it is sandwiched between We Dreamt in Heist (the best song on the album) and the excellent cover of Cadence.

My Advice to you: If you like this sort of music I'd Highly recommend this CD to anyone and everyone. If the band makes it on the radio (which I'm sure they will eventually) you can brag to your friends you heard them first. Most importantly though you will be adding a great CD to your collection that you can listen to for years to come.

My Advice to the band: You have very good direction and are you do many things well. My only suggestion would be to not stop shopping for labels even though you are on a good one. Tooth & Nail is a nice label but if you keep producing great music you may be able to get a Dreamworks deal or something of that nature. While Tooth & Nail is a respectable label they won't bring you the ultimate goal of fame and worldwide domination.
