Original Release Date: April 23rd 2002 Sounds like: All American Rejects meet The Ataris while visiting the Foo Fighters on Vacation Best song on CD: Nothing Frequency Why?: It has a good chorus and you can see little
teeny boppers everywhere screaming out the parts of the lyrics they
actually know Worst song on CD: Long way to fall Why?: Not only is it a rip lyrically off a million other songs most notably Bluestraveler's song Stand where John Popper says Long way to fall numerous times. |

I am sure you can name thousands of pop punk bands that I have never even heard of. There is such an overabundance of them because well you can sound pretty good even if you have no talent at all. Autopilot Off does have some talents though, they have some intriguing guitar work going on and they try to do some interesting things vocally. Their biggest downfall is repetition. Let me preface this with a little exercise; say out loud 1,2,3,4 repeatedly as fast as you can. Okay you can stop now. You have just discovered the beat to every Autopilot Off song. Granted this is only an EP but was it necessary for every song to sound exactly the same. The guitars are different, the lyrics are different but I still have this feeling like haven't I heard this before. Besides that the EP holds together quite nicely. I am not saying I would never listen to another Autopilot Off CD again; I actually find it quite entertaining. My Advice to you: If you like every pop punk band then get this CD you will enjoy it; if you are looking for something new and unique this isn't for you. My Advice to the band: You most likely don't care about street credibility I am sure like most pop/punk bands you want to become famous and suck as much money as you can out of the TRL watchers of the present year. If this is the case make the choruses of your songs more defined so that they jump out and say we are Autopilot Off, this is our song, go ahead and try and forget it because it's going to be stuck in your head all day. If I am completely wrong in my assumptions I apologize to the band and would offer these words of advice TEMPO CHANGES. I don't necessarily crave a ballad but how bout making at least one song that changes the tick on your metronome. As always these are just my opinions and music isn't an exact science so you are entitled to yours. If you disagree with me or want to comment on this in any way please e-mail me at Ms1730@ship.edu
