Good Charlotte - The Young and the Hopeless

Original Release Date: October 1, 2002

Sounds like: The first Good Charlotte CD, which attacked airwaves everywhere

Best song on CD: Boys and Girls

Why?: It is extremely catchy even though it is really corny

Worst song on CD: Hold On

Why?: Sounds like a song that kids that know nothing about music will call EMO and it doesn't fit too well with the rest of the album.

I really wanted to hate this latest effort from Good Charlotte. Since the release of their first album that I will admittedly say I enjoyed they have found a way to annoy me on many different levels. First would be the awful job that two of its members did while hosting a late night MTV show (VJing). They could barely speak let alone properly. They made announcing a video seem like brain surgery and by no means does that imply they are intelligent. How hard is it to say, "up next is Creed with another crappy song that sounds like their last hit". Then there was the soundtrack for Madden 2003, which wasn't necessarily their fault, but I thought if I ever had to hear the song "The Anthem" one more time you might see me leaping off the highest building I can find. Despite all these negative emotions going into the CD I must say it really isn't bad. By no means a work of art but is a nice listen. In other words this isn't Picasso but also isn't Senior Stick Figure.

My Advice to you: If you liked the first one, you'll like the second. If you hated their first album, you shall equally hate this one as well.

My Advice to the band: A few songs that experiment with things here and there can't hurt if you widen your horizons as a band it will allow you to have much more longevity.
